I tried to go on vacation today. Tornadoes and a monsoon in Dallas had other plans.
After getting the call that my flight to Dallas was canceled, I spent two hours on hold with Unnamed Airlines to figure out what was going on. Trying to shower while listening to hold music and hoping you don't miss the person coming on to fix your problem is truly a balancing act, let me tell you. Finally, I just got on the road and headed to the airport to try to figure the mess out, talked to a less-than-helpful person on the phone on my way to the airport, stood in line at the airport, talked with exceptionally helpful and very stressed and tired ticket agents at the airport, got a flight for tomorrow out of Tulsa (first class for the longer leg of the trip!), checked to see if I could get a flight for today out of Dallas which God has decided can recover from its Noah-like conditions, found out said flight was full, kept my ticket for Tulsa tomorrow, and proceeded to lunch with fine company and an adult beverage.
So, the above pictures shows what I have done today on this, the first day of my vacation. I spent the afternoon napping, watching Gilmore Girls, and generally lounging about doing jack squat. The pouty lip is just for effect--I quit pouting and hit acceptance at about noon. After all, I'm on vacation!
The moral of the story is: When weather cancels your flights, tell the ticket agents you appreciate their hard work. They'll put you in first class without telling you :-)
